CIC direction to disclose sponsorshi­p details stayed

NEW DELHI : The Delhi High Court on Friday put on hold the Central Informatio­n Commission’s (CIC) order directing Hockey India to provide to BJP MP Kirti Azad the details of sponsorshi­p amounts received, commission­s paid and litigation expenditur­e incurred by the sports body’s league, HIL, since 2013. Justice Suresh Kait also stayed the CIC’S show cause notice to Hockey India (HI) asking why “maximum penalty” be not imposed on it for not providing documents sought by the commission. The show cause notice and the direction to provide the details sought by Azad under the Right to Informatio­n (RTI) Act was issued by the commission on October 22. spearhead, who won the gruelling Dakshin Dare Rally last month, has won the first two rounds with consummate ease. Stephanie Rice wants to set up academy in India

BHUBANESWA­R: Australian swimming great Stephanie Rice Friday said she is planning to set up an academy in India in her pursuit to produce future Olympic medallist from the country in her sport. Rice won three gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the age of 20 and six years later she retired from the sport.

Beyond her television assignment­s and other promotiona­l activities, she said her ultimate goal is to establish a swimming academy in India and groom Olympic medal winners. “I am really working on it. I have had a number of opportunit­ies to do that but just has not been the right time or the right infrastruc­ture,” Rice told PTI.
