Celtics hand Bucks first loss of NBA season

LOS ANGELES : The Boston Celtics drained a franchise record 24 three pointers en route to knocking off the last undefeated team in the NBA on Thursday with a 117-113 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kyrie Irving scored 28 points and Gordon Hayward tallied a season high 18 for the Celtics, who snapped the Bucks sevengame win streak to start the season.

“We stayed resilient and won the game,” said Boston’s Marcus Morris, who finished with 17 points.

“We knew we could take their best shot and ended up winning the game. We let ‘em have it.”

The Celtics, whose previous record for three-pointers was 19, finished one short of tying the NBA record of 25, which was set by the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 4.

EX-NBA STAR HAS DOG SEIZED FROM HAND BAG

SYDNEY: Former NBA player Lamar Patterson had his French bulldog seized by notoriousl­y strict Australian customs officials who found the animal stashed inside the athlete’s hand luggage. Patterson, who recently signed for the Brisbane Bullets, had the pooch -- called Kobe -- in his carry-on when he arrived here on Thursday. “Biosecurit­y officers at Brisbane Airport have seized a dog that arrived on a flight from the United States undeclared and without an import permit,” the department of agricultur­e said in a statement.

Under Australian laws designed to keep disease at bay, dogs entering from the United States must be declared and have to spend at least 10 days in quarantine.

NORTH, S KOREA WISH TO CO-HOST GAMES

SEOUL :The two Koreas agreed at a meeting on Friday to send a letter to the Internatio­nal Olympic Committee confirming that they want to co-host the 2032 Summer Games, they said in a joint statement. Sports officials from both sides held talks to discuss ways of expanding sports exchanges.

The statement also said they agreed to form a combined team to compete in the men’s Handball World Championsh­ip in Germany next year.

Indonesia and India have also expressed an interest in hosting the Summer Games in 2032.
