FIRE BREAKS OUT IN HIGHRISE AT NAGPADA

MUMBAI: A major fire broke out at a high rise in Nagpada late on Saturday. No casualties have been reported till the time of going to press. The fire broke out at the tenth floor of Bismilla Tower on Dimtimkar Road at Nagpada around 10pm and was doused by 11.45pm. Four fire tenders and water tankers were rushed to the spot. According to fire officials, a short-circuit could have caused the fire.

Man arrested for raping 15yearold stepdaught­er

MUMBAI: Tarapur police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his 15-year-old stepdaught­er while her mother was away for Diwali. According to API Sarjerao Kumbhar of Tarapur police station, the accused was produced before the Palghar court on Thursday and has been remanded in police custody till November 12.

5 held for attacking Kurla guard, damaging vehicles

MUMBAI : Nehru Nagar police arrested Pranay Tulur, 19, Swapnil Adsure, 20, Praful Torne, 23, Murgan Lingtar, 20, and Mari Tariyachi, 19, for assaulting a security guard at Shramjivi Nagar residentia­l society in Kurla on Wednesday and damaging vehicles. According to the cops, the accused were on the lookout for Faizal Pathan, 23, a resident of the society with whom they had skirmishes in the past.

‘Will protest if Marathi film doesn’t get screen time’

MUMBAI: The Maharashtr­a Navnirman Sena (MNS) has issued a 24-hour warning to all multiplex owners in Maharashtr­a, saying they will stage a protest if the Marathi movie “Aani...dr. Kashinath Ghanekar” is not screened during prime time. “We issued the warning after receiving complaints from cities across the state,” said MNS leader and film producer Ameya Khopkar.

Video of exp train loco pilot urinating on pole goes viral

MUMBAI: A video of a loco pilot, getting down from an unidentifi­ed express train and urinating on a nearby pole in Vasai on Saturday morning, has gone viral on social media. Ravinder Bhakar, CPRO, WR, said that he is yet to verify the video. “The pilot must have informed the control room in Churchgate and guard on board before stopping the train,” Bhakar said.
