INJURED SKIPPER CHANDIMAL OUT OF SECOND TEST

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal will miss the second Test against England after injuring himself in the opening match of the series, the cricket board said on Sunday. It is also doubtful he will return for the third and final Test after being ruled out by doctors for two weeks, Sri Lanka Cricket said. Suranga Lakmal will lead Sri Lanka while Charith Asalanka will be inducted into the team as a replacemen­t. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka team manager Charith Senanayake quit for “personal reasons” and was replaced by Jeryl Woutersz, the SLC said.

Akila Dananjaya reported for suspect bowling action

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka off-spinner Akila Dananjaya was reported over a suspect bowling action during the first Test which England won by 211 runs, the Internatio­nal Cricket Council said on Sunday. “Dananjaya’s bowling action will now be scrutinise­d further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIS and T20IS,” the governing body of the sport said. He is required to undergo testing within two weeks and during this period, Dananjaya is permitted to continue bowling in internatio­nal cricket until the results are known, the ICC said.

Probe panel summons BCCI president, secretary

NEW DELHI: The three-member probe panel has summoned acting BCCI president CK Khanna and acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary to join treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry for deposition in the alleged sexual harassment case against CEO Rahul Johri. While treasurer Anirudh had emailed to the probe panel on Friday, offering to assist the panel in its probe against Johri, Khanna and Amitabh received mails from the panel on Sunday asking them for deposition. “Yes both CK Khanna and Amitabh have received mails to join Anirudh for a deposition in the sexual harassment case on Monday at the BCCI headquarte­rs,” a BCCI official said.

NEW DELHI: The England versus

Sri Lanka contest of the Women’s World Twenty20 in Gros Islet, St Lucia, was forced to be abandoned without a ball being bowled due to torrential rain in the Caribbean. Both the Group A teams grabbed a point each and will play their next games on Tuesday. While England face Bangladesh at the same venue, Sri Lanka will take on South Africa.
