KALIPEELI TAXI UNIONS CANCEL STRIKE ON NOV 15
MUMBAI: The black-and-yellow taxi unions called off their decision to go on a strike from November 15. The decision was taken after they met transport commissioner on Tuesday afternoon. The agitation was planned after testing of vehicles for fitness certification was stopped at all the regional transport offices (RTOS) in the city — two months ago following an interim stay by the high court. The transport department said three tracks required to check fitness of vehicles are being constructed in Thane.
Hostel to install CCTV cams after woman guard stabbed
THANE: A day after a woman security guard was allegedly stabbed by her partner at a Tmc-run nursing hostel in Khopat, the hostel authorities have decided to install CCTV cameras on the premises. On Monday, Babita Dubey, 40, was stabbed by Vikas Dhanavde, 36. According to the police, the two had an argument before Dhanavde stabbed Dubey thrice.
State signs pact for research in healthcare
MUMBAI: The state on Tuesday signed a statement of intent with Niti Ayog and Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (Wadhwani AI) for greater collaboration for healthcare sector. This includes establishing a model International Centres for Transformational AI (ICTAI) for quality healthcare to accelerate focus on research, diagnosis, treatment delivery of diseases like cancer and tuberculosis.
