BALBIR SINGH SR’S HEALTH BETTER, SAY DOCTORS
CHANDIGARH : Doctors attending to hockey legend Balbir Singh Senior, 94, have moved him out of the respiratory intensive care unit (RICU) to a private ward, saying his condition was better. The nonagenarian was referred to RICU in a critical condition on Oct 1. “He had multiple problems. Old age was the biggest issue, second was cardiac failure, which was precipitated by very fast heart rate. He also had pneumonia. We controlled his heart rate, he was given medication for pneumonia, and as his breathing pattern was irregular we had to put him on ventilator,” Dr Ashutosh Sharma, head, pulmonary medicine, PGIMER, said.
EXSL player Lokuhettige charged with corruption
COLOMBO: Former Sri Lanka international Dilhara Lokuhettige has been charged under an anti-corruption code relating to a 10-over league in the United Arab Emirates last year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Tuesday. The 38-year-old, who played nine ODIS and two T20s for Sri Lanka, has been charged with three counts of breaching the anti-corruption code of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), the global governing body said. “Mr Lokuhettige has been provisionally suspended with immediate effect,” the ICC said in a statement.
Overworked Rohit rested for New Zealand matches
NEW DELHI: Keeping in mind his recent workload, Rohit Sharma was on Tuesday rested for India A’s first unofficial Test in New Zealand after being named in the squad originally. Rohit, who has made a comeback to the Test side, will now leave for Australia with India’s T20 squad on Friday. “Rohit Sharma has been advised rest by the BCCI medical team in consultation with the team management and the All-india Senior Selection Committee.,”said the BCCI in a statement.
