JBIMS STUDENT OFFERED ₹5.5L FOR TWOMONTH INTERNSHIP

MUMBAI: A post-graduate student, who is pursuing the management degree course from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Churchgate, has bagged a summer internship with a ₹5.5 lakh stipend for two months. The stipend is a lakh rupee more than what was paid to a Masters in Management Studies (MMS) student last year, and is the highest stipend ever offered to any student from the institute.

Meanwhile, the average stipend of this year’s MMS batch rose by over 17% —from ₹1.61 lakh offered last year to ₹1.89 lakh this year.

“The top 10% of the batch took home a whopping stipend of ₹3.24 lakh, while the top 30% was offered ₹2.8 lakh on an average,” read a statement released by the institute on Wednesday.

The summer placement season witnessed the participat­ion by 52 companies. About 30% of the batch being offered internship­s in investment banking, corporate banking, commercial banking, equity research, securities, retail banking.

“The campus has seen an overwhelmi­ng rise in the participat­ion of some of the most coveted organisati­ons across the country making lucrative offers,” said Sagar Rathi, a placement committee member.

Dr Kavita Laghate, the institute’s director, said the current batch exceeded all expectatio­ns of the summer placements at JBIMS.
