NTR’S GRANDDAUGHTER TO ENTER ELECTION FRAY IN TELANGANA
HYDERABAD: Nandamuri Suhasini, the granddaughter of Telugu Desam Party founder-president NT Rama Rao, will contest the elections to the Telangana assembly scheduled to be held on December 7. Daughter of former parliamentarian and TDP politburo member Nandamuri Harikrishna, who died in a road accident this year, Suhasini will enter the fray from Kukatpally assembly constituency. TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday took a decision to field Suhasini, his niece through marriage, following representations from party leaders of the constituency. Suhasini met Naidu at Visakhapatnam in the evening and agreed to contest the elections, a TDP person familiar with the situation said on condition of anonymity.
BJP names 20 candidates in third list for Telangana
NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Thursday released its third list of candidates for the Telangana polls. The party had earlier released two lists of 66 candidates for the December 7 elections. The third list contains 20 names, including Satish Goud from Secunderabad, G Padmaja Reddy from Mahbubnagar, and Kotha Ashok Goud from Ibrahimpatnam. The list has four women candidates. Party chief Amit Shah had kicked off the party’s campaign for the Telangana polls on September 15 at Mahabubnagar and had addressed another rally at Karimnagar last month.
Denied ticket, former TRS MLA switches over to BJP
HYDERABAD: Former Choppadandi member of legislative assembly (MLA) Bodige Shoba quit the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Thursday and joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) after she was denied a ticket for the December 7 state elections. Shoba, who was apparently disappointed at not being re-nominated for the seat from the ruling TRS, joined the BJP in the presence of Telangana BJP party president K Laxman, senior party leader and Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya and former state unit president G Kishan Reddy.
