MUMBAI: The Nehru Nagar police arrested a 52-year-old BEST bus driver on Sunday for allegedly running over a 14-year-old boy and killing him. Arbaz Khan, the victim, and his friend were racing on their bicycles, when Khan lost his balance and came under the wheels of the bus on Sunday afternoon. Vilas Shinde, senior police inspector, Nehru nagar police station, said Kisan Lande, the driver, has been booked for rash driving. “Further investigat­ing in the case is going on,” said Shinde.

Jet Airways cancels 10 flights due to staff shortage

MUMBAI: Around ten Jet Airways flights from Chhatrapat­i Shivaji Maharaj Internatio­nal Airport were cancelled on Sunday allegedly due to shortage of pilots. An airline spokespers­on said a few domestic flights were cancelled due to operationa­l reasons. Jet Airways pilots, who have been facing salary payment delays, have been in talks with the company heads to sort out the issue. Another airline official said Sunday’s flights were delayed due to issues in rostering duty time table to the pilots.

Two labourers injured in slab fall at Vikhroli

MUMBAI: Two constructi­on workers received minor injuries after a part of a slab collapsed at a constructi­on site in Vikhroli’s Kannamvar Nagar on Sunday. According to a senior BMC official from the disaster management team, repairs of a ground-plusone structure was being carried out when the slab collapsed.

‘Cop’, ‘scribe’ extort ₹10K from builder, arrested

MUMBAI: The Tulinj police arrested two people on Saturday for allegedly posing as a police officer and a reporter, and extorting ₹10,000 from a builder. The accused – Mayur Jadhav, 35, and Rupesh Gupta, 36 – were remanded in police custody.

50yrold arrested for raping minor in Palghar

PALGHAR : A 50-year-old man has been arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl from Zai village, Palghar, multiple times over the past year. “The survivor’s parents are daily wagers and would be at work when the accused would go to her house. He would then threaten her of dire consequenc­es,” said assistant police inspector Rajendra Kumar Sanap .

Police bust sex racket in Kolhapur massage parlour

KOLHAPUR : Three women were rescued from a sex racket after the police raided a massage parlour near the Central state transport bus station in Kolhapur on Saturday. Police also arrested 33-year-old Tanaji Tore in connection with running the racket and the parlour’s owner, Sonali Jadhav for further investigat­ion.
