Siddhant, Sachin lead NHSC to win

MUMBAI : Contrastin­g centuries from Siddhant Adhatrao and Sachin Yadav helped New Hind Sports Club (NHSC) chase down the target of 287 against Dadar Union with four wickets to spare in a match of the Purshottam Shield here on Sunday.

While Siddhant batted with caution and scored a patient 108 off 139 balls with the help of 13 fours and one six, Sachin displayed more aggression on his way to an unbeaten run-a-ball 102 that contained 13 fours and two maximums.

In another match, Dr DY Patil SA defeated Parel Sporting Club by 130 runs with Mumbai Ranji star Iqbal Abdullah claiming a four-for. Abdullah was ably supported by Pravin Tamble as the spin duo scalped seven wickets between them to tie down Parel Sporting who could muster only 289/8. Pranav Pawar waged the lone battle for the losing side, scoring a defiant hundred (116).

Though Karan Sonavale (37) Sheesh Shetty (32) also showed promise, their innings did not last long.

Earlier hundreds from Shashank Singh (133) and Yogesh Takawale (106*) guided DY Patil to a mammoth 419/9 in the stipulated 70 overs.

In other matches, MIG defeated PJ Hindu Gymkhana by six wickets, Payyade SC trounced Worli SC by 67 runs and Parkophene Cricketers registred a facile six-wicket victory over Muslim United.

BRIEF SCORES 255/4 in 52.3 overs (Swapnil Pradhan 100, Kevin D’almeida 76, Sumit Ghadigaonk­ar 51) by 6 wkts.

Payyade SC 316/9 in 70 overs (Omkar Ghule 85, Usaid Iqbal 75, Vikrant Auti 60, Parag Khanapur 40, Abubakar Siddhiqui 5/83) bt Worli SC 249 in 62.3 overs (Larson D’souza 62, Rishabh Pant 67, Nishan Singh 3/50, Rajesh Pawar 3/42) by 67 runs.

Muslim United 192 in 48.5 overs (Satyalaksh­a Jain 86, Atif Attarwala 5/33) lost to Parkophene Cricketers 193/4 in 37.3 overs (Prasad Pawar 56*, Adeeb Usmani 43, Rajesh Sardar 4/58) by 6 wkts.

PAYYADE, SPORTING CC SET UP TITLE DATE

Sporting CC Thane and Payyade SC won their matches on the basis of first innings lead to set up the title clash in the Under-14 U14 CPCC Tournament here on Sunday. While Sporting Club got the better of Kurla SC, Payyade Club overcame a tough challenge from Sainath SC in the semi-finals.

Payyade’s Rudra Tank was the star performer on the last day of the semi-finals scoring an unbeaten 106 off 169 balls. His top knock contained 14 hits to the fence.
