- HT Correspondent

MUMBAI: Skipper Musheer Khan starred with the bat slamming a double ton as Mumbai amassed a huge 422/6 against Baroda on the opening day of their Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match at Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana, Kandivili, here on Sunday.

Khan, who came out to bat one down, was unbeaten on 206 off 245 balls at the stumps. His knock has so far featured 19 fours and three sixes.

After winning the toss and batting first, the hosts lost their openers and were reduced to 11/2 before Khan steadied the ship adding 85 runs in the company of Shiv Chavan.

Though wickets fell at a regular interval, Khan continued to hold one end and reached his hundred in 132 balls during the post-lunch session.

Khan found a reliable ally in Aayush Zimare during the posttea session. Together, the two batsmen took opposition attack to the cleaners accumulating 154 runs in 33 overs.

Zimare was run out on 81 off 115 balls just five overs before the end of the day’s play but Khan remained unperturbed and brought his double hundred moments before stumps were drawn. Giving him company was Himanshu on six.
