3rd year students of BMS get wrong question paper

- Shreya Bhandary

MUMBAI: Hundreds of third-year Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) students, who appeared for the Logistics and Supply Chain Management subject exam on Monday, were given the wrong question paper. The students were handed over the question paper based on the old syllabus, meant for repeater candidates.

“Once the exam was over, I was cross-checking some answers with my friend who appeared for the paper at another centre, only to find out that he had another question paper. I immediately contacted my college professor,” said one of the students, who appeared for the paper at St Andrew’s College, Bandra.

Other colleges where students complained about facing the same problem included Rizvi College in Bandra, Thakur College in Kandivli, Oriental College in Andheri and Ruparel College in Matunga. “It’s surprising that no one noticed this error during the exam. We have approached the university now, and sought help in the matter,” said Marie Fernandes, principal of St Andrew’s.

“We got calls from two-three colleges ... on what could be done in a situation where students were handed over the old syllabus question papers. We have called the subject chairperson to look into this matter first thing tomorrow,” said Arjun Ghatule, director, department of examination and evaluation, University of Mumbai (MU). “Students will not suffer because of this error.”

Each subject offered by the university has a code, including separate codes for separate paper patterns (depending on old and new syllabus) of the same subject. While the code for the new syllabus of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management subject was 46001, students at least five city colleges were handed over a question paper with the subject code 31263, based on the old syllabus.
