THIRUVANAN­THAPURAM: Congress activists marched on the Sabarimala temple base camp for devotees on Tuesday in defiance of an order banning public assemblies in the area, as the party fretted that Sangh Parivar groups could take over the agitation against the entry of women of menstruati­ng age into the temple. Meanwhile, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, vowed that his government would not allow the RSS, the ideologica­l mentor of the BJP at the Centre, to create another Ayodhya in Kerala. At least 69 protestors were held on Sunday for flouting prohibitor­y orders.

Amritsar attack probe reveals Pak, Canada links

NEW DELHI: Investigat­ions into the Amritsar grenade attack on Sunday revealed that the strike was planned in Lahore with the involvemen­t of pro-khalistani Sikh diaspora in Germany and Canada, according to top security officials in New Delhi. The officials said this was a desperate attempt to revive militancy in Punjab and said it might not work. ››P10

Tigress T1’s cubs spotted, may be rescued soon

MUMBAI: The two cubs of tigress T-1 or Avni on Thursday ate the bait laid out for them, the forest department claimed on Tuesday, raising hopes that the 10-montholds may soon be rescued. After two-three baits, the cubs will either be led to a trap cage or a spot close enough to tranquilis­e them. The search for the cubs was launched after Avni was killed in Yavatmal on November 2. Last Thursday, camera traps captured images of the cubs eating a 60kg pony kept as bait. ››P4

BMC to open six revamped markets from December

MUMBAI: The BMC plans to throw open its six refurbishe­d markets – Kandivli, Bandra (West), Santacruz (East), Chembur, Ghatkopar

(West) and Vikhroli (West) – to vendors and buyers from December to June 2019. Private developers have revamped the six markets, based on the previous policy of the civic body that offered a floor space index (FSI) of 4 for constructi­on. FSI is the ratio of the total built-up area to the size of the plot. It indicates how high a builder can construct a building. ››P2
