30-yr-old posts cousin’s obscene pics, held

MUMBAI: Tilak Nagar police arrested a 30-year-old man from Marol, Andheri, for allegedly circulatin­g obscene photos on a social networking site of a 28-year-old woman doctor. The accused and the victim were previously in a relationsh­ip, and when he got to know that she was getting engaged to someone else, he forwarded obscene pictures of her to the victim’s friends and colleagues on Facebook, the police said. According to the police, the victim and the accused are maternal cousins and were known to each other since childhood. The woman, in her statement to the police, alleged that they were in a relationsh­ip from 2016 and in mid-2017 they broke up mutually. “After the breakup the accused got married and both of us started living separate lives. He was busy and happy with his life and I was busy with my work,” said the woman in her statement.

Problems started when the accused came to know that the victim was getting engaged. “He got angry and sent the obscene photos to the victim’s friends and colleagues. The recipients then informed her following which she registered a case,” said Deepmala Jadhav, police sub-inspector, Tilak Nagar police station.

Sushil Kamble, senior police inspector, Tilak Nagar police station said, “On November 18, the accused was arrested from his residence in Marol. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody for four days.”
