in October, Nanda had published her allegations on social media, following which Nath’s wife, Ashu, filed a defamation case against Nanda on October 13.

Police officials said Nath had offered to drop Nanda hope after a party in the winter of 1998. “When Nanda reached home with Nath, he took her to the bedroom. He raped her in the bedroom while there were two more people present at the house,” said a police officer. The two people are Nanda’s domestic help and a friend. “Both of them are the prime witnesses in the case,” said the officer. The police said Nanda had told her friends about the rape, but was apprehensive about lodging a complaint as Nath was a famous actor.

Similarly, after investigating a complaint filed by actor Kritika Sharma against Sidana, accusing him of sexual harassment, Versova Police booked Sidana under section 354(A) (sexual harassment), 354 B (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) on Tuesday.

Sharma alleged Sidana had pretended to help her find a place to stay in Mumbai and then attacked her in July 2013. As per the allegations in the FIR, Sharma was subjected to harassment on July 28 and 29 in 2013 when she’d been told she was shortlisted for a film. Under false pretexts, Sidana took Sharma to an empty flat where he attacked her. “He attempted to rape me. I fainted as he forced himself on me. I resisted him and pleaded to let me go. I somehow managed to rescue myself,” Sharma said in her statement to the police.

Advocate Shreyansh Mithare who is representing Sidana said, “We have not been informed or summoned by the police. We will prove innocence in court.” begun acquiring land for its Mumbai-ahmedabad bullet train project. Having more areas under its jurisdiction would give MMRDA greater control over the land around the corridor in MMR. The bullet train has proposed three stations for the highspeed train in the region,at Thane, Virar, and Boisar.

The metro line proposals approved on Wednesday include one running from Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk (Mira Road), or Metro 10, from Wadala to GPO, or Metro 11, and from Kalyan to Taloja, or Metro 12.

The three metro lines are estimated to cost ₹17,300 crore. MMRDA can float tenders for construction of the three metro lines once the state cabinet approves.

The CM also approved the formation of a company called Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd to run a;; Metro lines being planned and executed by the MMRDA, as well as Mumbai’s monorail corridor. The company will also get fare and non-fare box revenue from the operations, and the profits will be ploughed back into the MMRDA to service loans.

Urban planners, however, feel the government should look at overall development of the new areas while expanding the MMR.

Prasad Shetty, an architect, and an urban planner said, “It the decision does not appear to be reasonable and logical. The plan could be to extend the infrastructure that the MMRDA can give to these places so that the development is made feasible again. What is needed is an improvement in the parts of MMR which have serious issues of high-density, pollution, and lack of proper layout plans. It requires the attention of the MMRDA, a regional plan,” Shetty said.
