Razmi, Merchant qualify for main draw
MUMBAI: Elphinstone CC’S Rayaan Razmi and former two-time Asian Snooker champion Yasin Merchant of Khar Gymkhana easily won their respective third and final snooker qualifying round matches in the BSAM Maharashtra State Senior Snooker & Billiards Selection (leg-2) Championship at the Bombay Gymkhana billiards room, here on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old Rayaan potted fluently to outshine Sagar Patne of Thane and cruised to a 3-0 victory in the best-of-5-frame tie to qualify for the main draw.
Yasin tamed Yogesh Kute of Vashi 3-0 to qualify for the main draw as well.
RESULTS
Snooker qualifying (Round-3): 52-31); Yogesh Sharma (Pune) beat Walter Vaz (Bombay Gymkhana) 3-1 (49-11, 48-21, 32-59, 66-44); Rayaan Razmi (ECC) beat Sagar Patne (Thane) 3-0 (53-12, 62-29, 73(39)-47).
KHILADI CONNECT, SAGAR SC TRIUMPH
Khiladi Connect and Sagar SC charged to fluent wins in their respective second division matches of the Rustomjee-mdfa League 2018-2019 at the St Xavier’s ground, Parel here on Wednesday.
Khiladi Connect rode on Shahzan Baig’s twin strikes to blank Athens XI 3-0 while Sagar SC prevailed over ICL under-19 by a 3-1 margin with striker Bhagwan Patil netting home a brace. RESULTS
