NAVI MUMBAI: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly kidnapping and sodomising a 6-year-old boy in Ghansoli Sector 15. The accused, identified as Sundarlal Jagdish Kaul, worked as a security guard in the society where the victim resides with his family.

The victim was playing in the society compound, when Kaul called out to him and took him to an isolated spot. “Kaul sodomised the boy and left him there. He threatened the victim not to tell anybody about the incident,” said Rahul Sonawne, assistant police inspector, Rabale police station.

“Initially, the victim was hesitant to tell his parents what had happened. However, his parents noted his odd behaviour and asked him what was wrong. The boy then told them what had happened,” said Sonawne.

A complaint was filed and the police registered a first information report (FIR). Kaul was booked under sections 363 (pun- ishment for kidnapping), 377 (unnatural offences) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Kaul was produced before the judicial court on Friday and has been remanded to police custody.

Police said that they are investigating whether other children in the society have had similar experiences with Kaul.
