MUMBAI: The RAK Marg police arrested two boys, aged 19 and 18, and detained a minor for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Sewri.

The girl’s parents found injuries on her private parts and confirmed the assault through a doctor before filing a complaint.

According to the police, the minor is admitted at KEM Hospital and is undergoing treatment for her injuries. The girl’s mother in her complaint said the incident took place on November 20 between 9pm and 9.30 pm in their housing society. She said her daughter was sitting on a sofa with the accused. When the mother’s brother-in-law suspected something was wrong, she asked her daughter if someone had done something to her. The girl pointed her finger at one of the accused, police said.

“A report from a private hospital said the girl’s genitals were swollen. Also, she was complaining of genital and abdominal pain. The doctor suggested shifting her to KEM Hospital for further treatment,” said a police officer.

The RAK Marg police have registered a case under sections 354, 376 (I) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and different sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012. “The minor has been sent for rehabilitation in Dongri,” said Bhagwat Bansod, senior police inspector.
