COASTAL ROAD: SURVEYS TO BE EXPEDITED

MUMBAI: To fast forward work on the Coastal Road project, municipal commission­er Ajoy Mehta on Tuesday directed the consultant­s for the project to complete the geo-technical surveys for constructi­on of the tunnel at Priyadarsh­ini Park, the interchang­e starting at Princess Street flyover, and a jetty for the project at Amarsons Park, within the decided deadline. Mehta inspected the progress of the work undertaken for the Coastal Road project on Tuesday.

Rly min Piyush Goyal reviews MUTP3A project

MUMBAI : Ahead of Maharashtr­a cabinet’s nod to MUTP-3A (Mumbai Urban Transport Project), railway minister Piyush Goyal reviewed the ₹55,000 crore worth project with senior railway officials on Tuesday evening. Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporatio­n officials said that they have apprised railway minister about the current status of MUTP-3A in the meeting. The project is expected to discussed in state cabinet this week.

Technical snag at Borivli leads to disruption on WR

MUMBAI : Local train services on the western railway were disrupted on Tuesday after a technical snag at Borivli. A total of 60 local train services on the western railway were delayed and 16 local train services were cancelled. The technical error, a point failure on the railway tracks occurred at 10.55am and was rectified after around four hours.

Gang dupes businessme­n in four states, arrested

MUMBAI : The Kurar police arrested three men of an interstate gang that placed online orders for goods and duped the sellers by giving them post-dated cheques that later bounced. The gang has duped people in four states and Delhi to the tune of over ₹1 crore, the police said. The accused were identified as Jaymin Amin,32, Chatrasing­h alias Satish Parmar, 28, and Dharmil Choksi,

Couple held for exploiting woman on pretext of job

MUMBAI : A 27-year-old man who allegedly sexually exploited a 31-year-old woman on the pretext of giving her a job was arrested by Nerul police on Tuesday. The accused’s 29-year-old wife, who allegedly knew about the crime and hid it, was also arrested by the police. According to police, the accused brought the victim from West Bengal, his home town, on the pretexting of keeping her as maid in his house.
