ROYALS ROPE IN JONES AS FAST BOWLING COACH

MUMBAI: Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday announced the signing of former England cricketer Steffan Jones as it’s fast bowling coach for the upcoming 12th edition of the cash-rich league. Jones, who was regarded highly as a fast bowler playing for several counties, has worked with the likes of Stuart Broad and Dan Christian during his short coaching stint with Big Bash League’s team Hobart Hurricanes last year.

India defeat South Africa, enter Deaf World Cup final

NEW DELHI: India entered the final of the DEAF-ICC World Cup T20, defeating South Africa by four wickets on Thursday. Batting first, SA were restricted to 136/9. India, aided by Jitender Tyagi’s 30, scored the required runs for the loss of six wickets.

Bangladesh eye first Test series win since 2014

DHAKA: Bangladesh will be looking for a rare Test series win when they take on West Indies in the second and final Test at the Sher-e-bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. The home side lead the two-match series 1-0 thanks to their 64-run win the first Test in Chittagong when their spinners accounted for all 20 West Indies wickets. A win in Dhaka will give Bangladesh their fourth Test series win and first since 2014 when they triumphed over Zimbabwe 3-0 at home.

Bangladesh to send team to Pakistan for ACC event

DHAKA: Bangladesh will send a cricket squad to Pakistan for the first time in three years after receiving assurances from their counterpar­ts about security. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are co-hosting an Asian Cricket Council tournament next month, with Bangladesh playing all their group matches in Karachi.
