Lillard sinks 10 three pointers to power Blazers past Magic

LOS ANGELES: Damian Lillard scored 41 points and set a franchise record for three-point shots made in a game as the Portland Trail Blazers held off the visiting Orlando Magic 115-112.

Lillard was 10-for-15 from three-point range and also grabbed eight rebounds as the Trail Blazers snapped a threegame losing streak. Nik Stauskas scored 18 points off the bench and Jusuf Nurkic finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for Portland.

Lillard, who finished 13-for-22 from the field, broke the team record of nine 3-pointers made. He had shared the mark with Nicolas Batum.

ORGANISERS PROMISE ACTION ON 258 CHEATS

SHENZHEN: Shenzhen Half-marathon organisers have vowed that the 258 participan­ts caught cheating during last weekend’s race will not be able to run away from punishment for their actions. As many as 18 runners found to wearing fake bibs, as well as three impostors, face lifetime bans from the event, the Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.

The 237 others, most of whom had taken shortcuts during the race and were caught out by traffic cameras and local photograph­ers, could be banned for two years.

MCLEOD, JAGER SHARE LEAD DOWN UNDER

SYDNEY: Jake Mcleod continued his strong home season with a sixunder-par 66 to take a share of the lead alongside compatriot Matt Jager after the first round of the Australian PGA Championsh­ip on the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Mcleod rolled in six birdies in a bogey-free round to upstage a slew of bigger names at the European Tour co-sanctioned event. He and Jager ended the day one stroke ahead of Eom Jae-woong and Dimitrios Papadatos.

For Jamnabai in the junior boys’ team category, Rajveer Shah got his team off to a flying start with a 3-0 win over Shyamal Singhal of Doon School. His teammate and India junior No 6 Dev Shroff breezed past Kanish Agarwal with another 3-0 win. Rajveer and Dev then teamed up to earn a hard-fought 3-0 win over the pair of Shyamal and Aryan to cement their berth in the round of 16.
