Customs stun title holders Central Rly

MUMBAI: Mumbai Customs, in a fast-paced and exciting match of the Mumbai Hockey Associatio­n’s Super Division league, sent defending champions Central Railway crashing to a 5-3 defeat at the Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate, on Tuesday.

Leading Custom’s charge was Iqtedar, who netted a brace of goals. Jayesh Jadhav, Mayur Patil and Joshua Vessaokar chipped in with one goal each to seal their win.

For Central Railway, who fought on gamely, Vinod Nair struck a brace and Rajendra Pawar scored one.

SHRIKRISHN­A CRUISES TO SECOND WIN

Tamil Nadu teenager S Shrikrishn­a defeated PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s Rovin D’souza 200-129 in a Group G match of the Chembur Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament. The 18-year-old Shrikrishn­a, who dominated the junior and sub-junior nationals making a clean sweep with four titles, winning the billiards and snooker events in both categories, was in complete control and easily overcame his 400-point handicap compared to his opponent’s 190-point handicap. YUVAN DAZZLES IN MCC RED’S WIN

Yuvan Motwani, a 13-year-old school boy, slammed an unbeaten 81-run knock as MCC Red defeated MCC Green by 42 runs in the second tie of the Brain4spor­ts MCC PRO-40 double-leg league at the Oval Maidan.
