Mumbai:

The state education department’s recent initiative to offer practice tests for Class 10 students saw a total of 44,88,679 downloads in 10 days till Wednesday [last day].

The data was recorded on the Balbharati website where these tests were uploaded.

“We are happy to see such a good response to the first-of-its kind initiative. The idea is to help students understand the paper pattern so that they can write their exams well. Students can begin to check their solved papers as the solution sets and tutorial videos would be uploaded from Thursday,” said Sunil Magar, director, Balbharati.

Students said the papers have been beneficial for them. “With the new syllabus, there was confusion about what is expected in the exam. Practice tests by the boards are more reliable than those given by private publishers,” said Soham Nakashe, a citybased student.

Starting Wednesday, the education department would upload solution sets against each practice paper along with a set of tutorial videos about topics covered under each of the subjects. “Tutorial videos have been prepared by experts to help students understand their mistakes,” said an official from the state education

department.

As per the data shared by the education department, the first and second language English (for Marathi medium) papers were the most popular among students with 11, 50, 530 downloads being recorded against these two papers. A large number of students also downloaded Science and Technology papers which recorded 10, 20,525 downloads.

HT had earlier reported about the introduction of practice tests, which were introduced to help students with the new paper pattern to come into effect from this year.

With scrapping of orals for languages and social sciences, students have to write 100 mark papers for these subjects.
