TWO INJURED AS TREE COLLAPSES IN BHANDUP

MUMBAI : Two people suffered minor injuries as a tree collapsed at LBS Road between Bhandupand Mulund on Wednesday evening. The tree was on the side of the road owned by Brihanmumb­ai Municipal Corporatio­n (BMC). An official from the civic garden department, said, “BMC’S drainage work going on at the side of the road because of which the tress was collapsed.”

President’s Fire Service Medals to 5 city officers

MUMBAI : Five Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) officers were presented with the President’s Fire Service Medals for Gallantry (Posthumous) on Wednesday at Raj Bhavan. Four of the five officers identified as Sunil Nesarikar, chief fire officer, Sudhir Amin, deputy chief fire officer, Sanjay Rane, assistant divisional fire officer and Mahendra Desai, station officer, lost their lives in fire at Gokul Niwas in Kalbadevi on May 9, 2015. Nitin Ivalekar lost his life at Lotus Business Park in Andheri on July 18, 2014.

Loco pilot injured after a stone hits front glass

KALYAN: An assistant loco-pilot of Rajya Rani Express was injured after miscreants threw stones on it on Tuesday. The incident took place between Vasind and Atgaon stations on Central line. A K Jain, senior PRO, CR, said, “A piece of glass pierced the assistant loco-pilot’s hand as stones were pelted on the train. The pilot received the medical treatment at Igatpuri station.”

Two men arrested for stealing goats for drugs

KALYAN: Two men were arrested by Bazar Peth police for allegedly stealing two goats on Tuesday. The accused duo identified as Salman Majeed, 23, and Arman Shiakh, 33, are regular offenders and stole the goats as they wanted to consume Mephedrone [drug], police said.
