DOC MANHANDLED AT CIVIC HOSPITAL, ONE ARRESTED

MUMBAI: The police arrested a 30-year-old man on Tuesday for allegedly manhandlin­g an on-duty doctor at Shatabdi Municipal Hospital in Kandivli (West). The accused felt the doctor did not give prompt response to his aunt, who was admitted for high blood pressure. An FIR has been registered under section 353 of the IPC for assaulting an on-duty government servant.

Five arrested for assaulting Palghar MP at civic garden

MIRA ROAD: The Naya Nagar police arrested five people for allegedly assaulting Rajendra Gavit, BJP MP from Palghar, at Mira Road civic jogging track on Tuesday morning. The police are looking for three more accused in the case. According to the police, the eight accused were wearing shoes while playing at the lawn, which is against the rules. When Gavit asked them to remove their shoes, the accused argued with him and started assaulting him. However, Gavit managed to escape and alerted the police, after which the accused were arrested.

KDMC official arrested while taking ₹5K bribe

KALYAN: Officers from Thane anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested a senior health inspector from Kalyan-dombivli Municipal Corporatio­n (KDMC) on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000. Mohan Rajaram Dighe, 45, was arrested for taking money from a man who he had promised a permanent job and posting at a desired location.

Couple assault mentally challenged woman, held

MUMBAI: The Dadar police on Monday arrested a 64-year-old fruit seller and his wife for allegedly assaulting and threatenin­g a 31-year-old mentally challenged woman. The incident took place on Sunday at 12pm near Worli village. After the victim’s mother approached the police, the couple was arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Woman, aide caught on cam while extorting money

MUMBAI: The Malwani police recently arrested a 37-year-old woman and her aide after they were caught on camera for allegedly extorting money from a parking lot manager in Malwani, Malad (West). Zubeida Ahmed Shaik, is a history-sheeter and was externed from the city for two years, the police said.

3 Bangladesh­i women held in Turbhe for illegal stay

NAVI MUMBAI: Three Bangladesh­i women, who were illegally living in a slum at Turbhe, were arrested by the police on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, officials from Mumbai special branch and Navi Mumbai police a raid the slum pocket and arrested them. ”We booked them under relevant sections of the Foreigners’ Act,” said a police officer.
