Sharma misses cut in Indonesia

JAKARTA: Shiv Kapur holed six birdies in his first 10 holes to return with a card of six-under 66 and lie tied 8th after the weatherhit second round but Shubhankar Sharma missed the cut at the BNI Indonesian Masters here on Friday. Kapur (71-66) gave himself a chance to make a charge over the week after totalling seven-under 137, still seven shots behind the leaders.

Shubhankar, who will be officially crowned Asia No. 1 on Sunday at the Tour dinner, had a birdie on his final hole of the season, but missed the cut.

“That was disappoint­ing to miss the weekend, but the year has been great,” said the 22-year- old. “I am getting ready for 2019 and it will be another busy year.”

THANGARAJA TAKES LEAD IN CG OPEN

MUMBAI: Sri Lankan N Thangaraja raced into the third round lead at the PGTI’S CG Open 2018 after posting a four-under-66 at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC) on Friday. He is one stroke ahead of halfway leader Rashid Khan, who slipped to second after a one-over-71, moving his total to nine-under-201.

JAIPUR PINK PANTHERS BEAT PUNERI PALTAN

PANCHKULA:JAIPUR Pink Panthers began their home leg with a comprehens­ive win as they beat Puneri Paltan 36-23 in the Pro Kabaddi here on Friday.

Deepak Hooda, with eight raid points, and Sunil Siddhgaval­e, with eight tackle points, were the heroes of the match.

Jaipur Pink Panthers still have a chance of making it to the playoffs while Puneri Paltan, who had lost their way after the first 10 minutes in this contest, are not in contention.

ARROWS, AIZAWL PLAY OUT GOALLESS DRAW
