BMC RAZES 125 BLDGS TO BUILD BRIDGE AT YARI RD

MUMBAI: The Brihanmumb­ai Municipal Corporatio­n (BMC) on Thursday demolished 125 illegal structures in Versova. The move clears the decks for constructi­on of a bridge connecting Yari Road to Lokhandwal­a. It is expected to cost ₹30 crores and cut down travel time by 20 minutes.

Civic body to release book to answer citizens’ FAQS

MUMBAI: BMC plans to publish a book of frequently asked questions (FAQS) to familiaris­e citizens with civic department­s, services and procedures. The data for the book has been gathered by the business developmen­t department of BMC. It will be published in English and Marathi. A digital file will also be available for free.

Man pays for ‘ayurvedich­tc medicines’, gets cheated

MUMBAI: A 40-year-old computer engineer from Mira Road was allegedly duped of ₹3.46 lakh by some fraudsters who lured him to pay for ayurvedic medicines on the pretext that he could sell them for a higher price. However, they neither gave him any medicine, nor gave him his money back. The Malad police booked the accused under section 420 and 34 of the IPC on February 6.

Malegaon blasts: Bailable warrant against witnesses

MUMBAI: The special court hearing the 2008 Malegaon blast case has issued a bailable warrant against two witnesses as they failed to appear before the court on for deposition. The two, who had been injured in the blasts, had been summoned by the court on the request of the prosecutio­n. The court has now directed them to appear before the court on March 1 or it will impose a fine.
