₹75-L BANK THEFT IN KOLHAPUR, COPS CLUELESS

KOLHAPUR : Police are clueless about the robbery of cash and gold ornaments worth ₹75 lakh kept in a locker of a co-operative bank at Kale in Kolhapur. The robbery took place at midnight on Friday. Police suspect the involvemen­t of an interstate gang after scrutinisi­ng CCTV footage and are interrogat­ing labourers and vendors for further clues.

2 labour contractor­s cheat factory owner of ₹8L, held

KOLHAPUR: Two labour contractor­s, Deepak Raste and Chandrakan­t Awale, residents of Sangli, were booked on Saturday for allegedly cheating a factory owner of ₹8 lakh on the pretext of supplying workers to cut sugarcane. The supervisor, Maruti Jagar, lodged a police complaint against the contractor­s after they failed to supply workers.

85-year-old man dies in road accident at Kolhapur

KOLHAPUR: An 85-year-old man died on Saturday after being hit by an unidentifi­ed vehicle near Godulshira­gaon in Kolhapur. The victim, identified as Raghunath Salokhe, had stepped out of his home to buy medicines and was on his way back when the accident happened. Police said he died on the spot.
