Two arrested with 2.1kg cannabis in Bhiwandi market

MUMBAI: The Shanti Nagar police arrested two men from Bhiwandi on Saturday for possessing 2.1kg of cannabis.

According to the police, the accused Shanaawaz Khan, 28, and Anis Khan, 32, had brought the cannabis from Uttar Pradesh (UP) a week ago . On Saturday, the duo was searching for a local dealer to sell the cannabis in Bhiwandi market.

A police officer from Thane commissionerate said, “We received a tip-off about two people roaming with cannabis in Bhiwandi market. Upon reaching the spot, we traced the duo, searched their bag and found 2.1 kg of cannabis,” the officer added.

“We found that the accused had bought the cannabis from UP for ₹20,000 and planned to sell it in Bhiwandi for ₹50,000. We seized it and probe is on. We found the accused were drug addicts,” the officer said.
