ACB raids additional collector in Beed, finds ₹2.5-crore assets
MUMBAI :The Maharashtra Anticorruption Bureau (ACB) raided premises linked to BM Kamble, additional collector of Beed district, arrested in a graft case, and unearthed movable and immovable assets worth over ₹2.50 crore.
“As per the documents found, there are huge investments in fixed deposits and bank deposits. We have found ₹20 lakh in current accounts,” said a high-ranking ACB officer privy to the investigation.
ACB sources said the two-storey bungalow where Kamble lives had seven rooms, terrace and a verandah and is worth ₹1 crore. Another house in Aurangabad is worth ₹70 lakh, which has been rented out along with an agriculture land at Paithan in Aurangabad in Kamble’s wife’s name, the sources said. The ACB is also inquiring about a house in Nanded. “An open inquiry has been initiated against Kamble over his assets. He will be given an opportunity to explain the source of income,” said the officer, who requested anonymity. In case of any discrepancy, a case of disproportionate assets will be registered. “We have approached the public works department (PWD) to ascertain the exact value of the immovable assets,” the officer said. “Computation of assets, expenditure and income will be done. Kamble’s income from his 35 years of service will be taken into consideration for the probe over his assets.”
According to ACB sources, other assets include two investments of ₹22.70 lakh and ₹34 lakh in his daughter’s name at a State Bank of India branch, three fixed deposits totalling to ₹29 lakh and a flat at Handewadi Road in Pune and gold and silver ornaments worth around ₹10 lakh.
