PHILANDER RULED OUT OF SECOND TEST VS SRI LANKA
PORT ELIZABETH: Opening bowler Vernon Philander has been ruled out of the second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka starting at St George’s Park on Thursday. South Africa coach Ottis Gibson said on Tuesday that Philander, who did not bowl in the second innings of Sri Lanka’s one-wicket win in Durban last weekend, had a Grade One hamstring tear, which would keep him out of action for 10 to 12 days. Gibson said uncapped all-rounder Wiaan Mulder would be considered as a “like for like” replacement, depending on conditions.
All World Cup matches to go ahead as per plan: ICC
NEW DELHI : Amid speculation surrounding the India-pakistan World Cup clash owing to the Pulwama terror attack, the International Cricket Council on Tuesday said it does not foresee any change in the schedule of the mega event starting May 30. Asked about the matter, ICC CEO Dave Richardson made it clear that there is no such indication as of now that the match will be cancelled. “There is no indication that any matches at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will not go ahead as planned,” Richardson said. “Sport, in particular cricket, has the ability to bring people together and unite communities and we will work with our members on that basis,” he said.
Johri completes gender sensitisation classes
MUMBAI: BCCI CEO Rahul Johri completed gender sensitisation classes on Tuesday in accordance with the recommendations of a probe panel that probed him for allegations of sexual harassment in 2018. Sources said a Mumbaibased company which specialises in conducting workshops on prevention of sexual harassment conducted the classes.
