MAN GETS 10 YRS FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING MINOR

MUMBAI: A special court under POCSO Act on Wednesday sentenced a man to 10 years of imprisonment and fined him ₹25,000 for sexually abusing his five-year-old cousin in February 2016. The incident took place when the survivor’s father had gone out for some work and the accused (his cousin) abused him in the father’s absence.

Dahanu witnesses three mild tremors

DAHANU: Residents of Dhundalwadi and surrounding areas in Dahanu felt three mild tremors, lasting for a few seconds, on Wednesday. First tremor was reported around 10.14am and recorded at 2.9 on the Richter scale, while second tremor was reported around 13.24pm also at 2.9 on the Richter scale. The third was recorded at around 13.28pm at 3.1 on the Richter scale.

Burnt body part found near Panvel station

NAVI MUMBAI: A burnt lower part of an unidentified man was found near Panvel railway station on Wednesday. An upper part of a burnt body was found on the other side of the same ground on Monday. Panvel police suspects that both the burnt body parts are of the same person.

Powai travel agent held for booking rly tickets illegally

MUMBAI: The Central Railway and Railway Police Force officers arrested a travel agent from Powai on Tuesday for allegedly booking long-distance train tickets worth ₹5.5 lakh online through unauthorised means. Nilesh Patel, 42, booked around 3,000 tickets worth ₹57 lakh.

HC asks top cop to clarify stand on noise violations

Pune engineer arrested for raping lover

MUMBAI: The Bandra police on Saturday arrested a software engineer from Pune on Saturday for allegedly raping his girlfriend by hiding his marriage from her. The survivor later learnt that he was married and broke up with him.
