APPRENTICE­SHIP SCHEME FROM AUG 15

The state plans to start an

apprentice­ship scheme, under which educated unemployed youths in the age group of 21 and 28 will get a chance to work as an apprentice in a private or government

to provide jobs to youths. To make this possible, we have decided to implement the Maharashtr­a Apprentice­ship Scheme that will provide employment as well as self-employment opportunit­ies to youths who have passed Class 10. It will include new industries and service sector such as e-commerce, It-enabled services, tourism, hospitalit­y, fintech and textile,” Pawar said.

The state will develop a new website for easy, effective, speedy and transparen­t implementa­tion and monitoring of the scheme. “The scheme will also help in creating new jobs and ultimately help the state economy to grow. The government will spend ₹1,200 crore every year. The scheme will firm for a stipend of up to ₹9,000 a month. While the state will pay ₹5,000, the firm will have to pay the rest. The scheme aims to provide employment to 10 lakh youths in five years.

Pawar announced that a law will be enacted to ensure 80% reservatio­n for locals in private sector jobs . It means all those residing in the state for 15 years will get priority in jobs. “The government intends to make a comprehens­ive law by correcting the flaws in the existing policy,” he said.
