Woman stabbed to death by alleged stalker, 2 sisters sustain injuries

KOTA: A 24-year-old post-graduate student was stabbed to death and her two sisters sustained injuries when they were attacked on Saturday allegedly by a man who had been stalking her in Talera town of Bundi district.

Police said the autopsy has confirmed that the woman received 21 critical injuries in the attack.

The accused, who lived in the victim’s neighbourh­ood, fled from the spot after the crime and efforts are underway to nab him, Talera police station deputy superinten­dent of police Deepak Garg said.

The accused had been stalking the woman for some time and had allegedly hit her on March 16 following which she approached Talera police station but the cops allegedly took no action against him, officials familiar with the case told news agency PTI.

The woman and her 22-yearold sister were on their way to the market from their home in Shivaji Nagar when the accused accosted them. He attacked the woman repeatedly and then lashed out at her multiple times with a sharp weapon, killing her on the spot, they said.

When the sister tried to help, the accused also attacked her with the sharp weapon and then entered the girls’ house where he targeted their another sister.

The sisters were rushed to government hospital in Talera where the doctor declared the woman dead. The sisters are undergoing medical treatment.
