Retired Delhi cop’s son shot dead in outer Delhi
NEWDELHI: A 28-year-old government clerk, who was the son of a retired Delhi Police personnel, was gunned down by four unidentified car-borne assailants who fired indiscriminately at the sedan he was driving in outer Delhi’s Rama Vihar near Aman Vihar on Thursday night, the police said.
Nearly a dozen bullets were fired by the four attackers, at least five of which hit Nitin Dalal, the son of the retired assistant-sub-inspector (ASI). A case of murder was registered at the Aman Vihar police station.
The police suspect that it may be a case of mistaken identity. The investigators are of the opinion that the attackers may have come to kill Nitin’s older brother Neeraj, who is a property dealer and allegedly has links with jailed gangster Sunil (alias Tillu)’s gang, senior police officers privy to the probe said.
Tillu is the rival of gangster Jitender alias Gogi, who was arrested in March this year.
