Cong govt in MP didn’t work for people: Scindia
BHOPAL:SENIOR Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia said on Monday that the previous Congress government in the state was not working in the interests of the people and alleged there was rampant corruption in their administration.
Scindia made the remarks at two virtual rallies in Mungaoli and Bamora assembly constituencies, as part of the BJP’S programme to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the founder of Jana Sangh. “Industrialists, certain leaders’ agents and contractors had access to Vallabh Bhavan, the state secretariat, but the common man didn’t. The secretariat had become an abode of corruption. The chief minister hardly stepped out of the building to meet people and redress their grievances. There was no communication with people and there was no hearing of their grievances. Even ministers were not able to meet him,” he said.
He criticised the then Congress government, saying: “The Congress talked of waiving farmers loans within 10 days of being voted to power but even after 15 months, loans were not waived. The educated unemployed youth didn’t get unemployment allowance. The sum of ~51,000 was not given to beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojna.”
State Congress spokesperson JP Dhanopia said, “If corruption was an issue or there was any other issue, he [Scindia] should have challenged the government overtly on the party forum.”
