No plans to retire: Anderson

MANCHESTER:ENGLAND’S most successful bowler James Anderson says he is not pondering his Test retirement but conceded the decision to step away could be taken out of his hands if he continues to underwhelm.

The 38-year-old has endured afrustrati­ng summer, managing just six wickets in his last three Tests, fuelling speculatio­n that his 17-year test career could be drawing to a close.

“I want to play as long as I possibly can. If I keep bowling the way I did this week, the opportunit­y to retire will be taken out of my hands. It will be a selection issue. But, for me, I’m still hungry,” Anderson said.

According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, “The settlement came on Monday, just two days before the case was due to be heard in the Victorian County Court.”

PCB TO CONTEST AKMAL BAN REDUCTION IN CAS LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced it will file an appeal with the Court of Arbitratio­n for Sports (CAS) against the reduction of ban on batsman Umar Akmal for breaching its Anticorrup­tion Code.

Last month, the three-year suspension initially handed to Akmal for failing to report corrupt approaches was reduced to 18 months on “compassion­ate” grounds by independen­t adjudicato­r Faqir Mohammad Khokhar.
