3 Maha cops die of Covid; toll rises to 124
MUMBAI: Three personnel of the Maharashtra Police died of Covid-19 on Wednesday, taking the state police department’s toll to 124. The state police also recorded 381 fresh cases, taking the total count to 11,773, of which 9,416 have recovered and 2,233 are active cases.
Shankar Gaju Kadam, 57, head constable from Tardeo local arms (LA) division, died of Covid-19 on August 10 in Pune’s Sahayadri Super-specialty Hospital, Pune. His Covid report was sent to Mumbai Police on
Wednesday.
“Kadam had comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension since the past few years,” said Mohan Dahikar, deputy commissioner of police (Tardeo LA).
In the second fatality, 34-yearold police constable Pradeep Tanaji Patil from Sangli district succumbed to Covid-19 on Wednesday.
“A Kolhapur resident, Patil was very a sincere, dedicated and disciplined policeman. The entire police station is shocked by his untimely demise,” said Niraj Ubale, inspector of Kupwad police station.
In the third case, 52-year-old head constable Gajanand Tayade of Buldhana Police died of Covid-19.
He suffered from comorbidities and after testing positive on July 27, he was receiving treatment at a facility in Buldhana.
INVESTIGATING OFFICER IN SUSHANT’S CASE TESTS +VE FOR COVID
Two officers from Bandra police station, investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput case, tested positive for Covid-19 recently. In the past two days, nine officers from Bandra police station have tested positive.
