Sushant death case: CBI questions Rhea for 7 hrs for second day in row
PROBE UPDATE Agency quizzes Sushant’s staff, manager, accountant too; Rhea gets police escort after plaint of “threat”
MUMBAI : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued questioning actor Rhea Chakraborty for the second consecutive day on Saturday in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea, who was quizzed by the central agency for around 10 hours on Friday, left her residence around 1pm on Saturday and reached the DRDO guest house in Santacruz — where the CBI team is stationed — around 1.30pm. Rhea’s car was escorted by a Mumbai Police vehicle after the actor had requested the police to provide protection to her and her family as she feels that “there is a threat” to their lives.
Rhea’s statement was recorded by CBI officer Nupur Prasad, who is leading the central agency’s team in the probe. She left the DRDO guest house at 8.15pm, after around seven hours of questioning.
Rajput’s cook Neeraj Singh and domestic help Keshav Bachner, housekeeper Dipesh Sawant, flatmate and creative manager Siddharth Pithani and manager Samuel Miranda, too, were questioned again. The agency has questioned Pithani, Singh and Bachner for four days in a row.
The CBI team also called in Rajput’s accountant Rajat Mewati for questioning on Saturday.
Rajput, 34, was found dead in his Bandra flat on June 14. The post-mortem report concluded he died by suicide. After a twoweek quiet, a controversy erupted over the death, as a Bihar Police team constituted to probe the case on a complaint by the actor’s family alleged it got no cooperation from its Mumbai counterparts.
The probe was handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Supreme Court, after it upheld the validity of the Bihar Police’s first information report (FIR) filed on the basis of a complaint by Rajput’s father, KK Singh, who has accused actor Rhea Chakraborty and her family of abetting his son’s suicide and misappropriating his money.
Chakraborty has denied all allegations levelled against her.
