Saxena century drives Pandit XI

MUMBAI: Divyansh Saxena notched up 178 off 265 balls to guide Chandrakan­t Pandit XI to a huge total of 395 in response to Jahangir Pithawala XI’S first-innings score of 269 on the second day of the U-25 Shalini Bhalekar Trophy on Wednesday.

Saxena’s knock comprised 19 fours and five hits over the ropes. He stitched together a thirdwicke­t partnershi­p of 156 with Harshal Jadhav (89) and then added 173 runs off 180 balls with Atharva Ankolekar (71) for the fifth wicket. For Jahangir Pithawala XI, fast bowler Saksham Jha picked up a five-wicket haul.

Meanwhile, Lalchand Rajput XI declared their first innings at 474/8, a lead of 229 runs against Dilip Vengsarkar XI. Wicketkeep­er-batter Vaibhav Kalamkar was unbeaten on 109 off just 96 balls with 10 fours and five sixes.
