SHEDGE, BADIANI, MUSHEER PUT MUMBAI IN DRIVER’S SEAT

MUMBAI: Pacers Suryansh Shedge (5/30) and Prince Badiani’s (4/40) efforts helped Mumbai bowl out Saurashtra for just 112 on Day Three of their Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy pre-quarterfin­al at Deccan Gymkhana in Pune on Thursday.

Later, skipper Musheer Khan scored 119 off 145 balls, which included 14 fours and three sixes, to stretch their lead to 703. At stumps, Mumbai reached 220 for four with Musheer and Omkar Malekar (10 batting) at the crease.

Earlier, Shedge and Badiani helped Mumbai take 483-run first innings lead. Such was their accuracy that Saurashtra were reduced from 112 for five to 112 all out in space of just five overs. Brief scores: Mumbai 595 & 220/4 in 62 overs (Musheer Khan 119, Aayush Zimare 40) v

Jamshedpur FC move to third place in ISL

BAMBOLIM, GOA: An injury-time winner from Ishan Pandita saw Jamshedpur FC secure a 3-2 win over Northeast United in the Indian Super League at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Thursday.

The result elevates Jamshedpur to third place in the standings, level on points with secondplac­ed Mumbai City FC and leaders Hyderabad FC.

Deshorn Brown (4) broke the deadlock with an early strike until Jordan Murray (44) levelled the score with a header. Boris Singh (56) then sent Jamshedpur into the lead with his first-ever goal in the ISL.

Brown (90+1) looked to have secured a draw with a late goal until Pandita (90+3) scored the winner deep into injury time.

PKL: Tamil Thaliavas hold Patna Pirates to a tie

BENGALURU: Tamil Thalaivas and Patna Pirates shared the spoils in a 30-30 tie in their Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match here on Thursday.

Ajinkya Pawar came off the bench to score 12 points for Thaliavas while Monu Goyat scored nine points for the Pirates.
