Cyclist files FIR against coach

MUMBAI: The woman cyclist who had complained of “inappropri­ate behaviour” by the national sprints team coach during a training trip to Slovenia lodged an FIR against the official on Saturday, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said.

“The national-level cyclist has lodged an FIR on Saturday against the national cycling coach for his inappropri­ate behaviour during a foreign exposure trip in Slovenia,” the SAI statement read.

Earlier in the week, SAI had terminated the contract of RK Sharma, the chief sprint cycling coach facing allegation­s of sexual harassment. Its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) found the allegation­s to be correct. “The ICC also advised the athlete to file a police complaint, which the athlete decided to do on June 11, 2022,” SAI said.

US judge dismisses rape suit against Ronaldo

LOS ANGELES: A US district judge in Las Vegas has dismissed a rape lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo, castigatin­g the legal team behind the complaint.

Judge Jennifer Dorsey threw out the case brought by Kathryn Mayorga of Nevada, who alleged she was assaulted by the Portuguese football star in a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009.

Murray defeats Kyrgios to enter Stuttgart final

STUTTGART: Former world No. 1 Andy Murray looked back to his best on grass as he beat Nick Kyrgios 7-6(5), 6-2 to move into the final of the Stuttgart Open after the Australian lost his cool in the second set and said he was racially abused by a fan.

The final is the 70th of Murray’s career and his second this year after losing in Sydney.
