AAP won’t spare corrupt: Kejriwal
SHIMLA: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) “will not spare anyone who indulges in corruption”, Delhi chief minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday during a roadshow in poll-bound Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district.
The Delhi chief minister was accompanied by his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Maan and AAP’S state unit chief Surjeet Thakur.
The 68-member Himachal Pradesh assembly is set to go to the polls later this year. “We are here not to do politics; neither have we known how to do it. But we are here with a resolve. We will not spare anyone who indulges in corruption,” Kejriwal said during a public rally at Dhalpur in Kullu.
Reiterating his vow to eradicate corruption, he said, “Only one party can do it and that is AAP.”
This was Kejriwal and Mann’s second visit to the poll-bound state within a fortnight. On June 10, the two held a Townhall meeting on education in Hamirpur.
Kejriwal lauded Mann for sending his minister to jail over corruption charges. “Did you ever hear about any Chief Minister sending his minister to jail? Mann found out that his Health Minister is involved in the wrong activities. If he wanted anything, he could have brushed it under carpet or asked for his share from the minister. But he sent him to jail,” the Delhi CM said.
On May 24, Mann sacked Punjab health minister Vijay Singla from the Cabinet over corruption allegations. Singla was later arrested by the Anti-corruption Branch. “I will not tolerate corruption of a single rupee. We want to turn Punjab into a corruption-free state” Mann had said.
During the rally, Kejriwal promised to improve the condition of schools and hospitals in the state, on the lines of Delhi and Punjab. “When you go home think about which party can give your children a better education and jobs. If you feel the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and the Congress can do it, vote for them.” “You have given them (BJP and Congress) enough chances. Just give one chance to AAP...” Mann accused the BJP and Congress of “enslaving the people of the country”.
