Cops sign MOU with IT giant for digital revamp

NOIDA: Aimed to embark on the journey of digital transforma­tion by using cloud computing platforms and services, the Gautam Budh Nagar police commission­erate on Monday, signed the memorandum of understand­ing (MOU) with global software leader Microsoft India Private Limited.

Commission­er of police (CP) Alok Singh said it will not only boost the capacity building of the newly introduced police commission­erate system, but also help in sharing of latest technology on cyber forensics.

“Now, we’ll be updated on emerging trends in cybercrime. The digital help and the software solution provided by Microsoft will also help in e-monitoring of beat system as it will gradually unfold the modus operandi of the criminals,” he said.

Giving the details of the collaborat­ion, the CP further said that it will inter-alia cover several areas not limiting to below fixed scope and will be valid for one year. “It will certainly improve existing setup with advisory support from Microsoft, besides giving support to setup digital policing center of excellence (COE). With this tie-up, we’ll provide scalable and secure products, assets, and services so that the core vision of policing could be delivered. It will also create scenario planning for new solutions and informatio­n for the police team, besides making an iterative roadmap and quantifiab­le value to execute our long-term vision,” he said.

Navtez Bal, the head (public sector) of Microsoft India private Limited, who signed the MOU from the other side, said that under this collaborat­ion, the Microsoft will provide its platform, technologi­es, services inline to digital policing. “While training and skilling on Microsoft technologi­es will ensure smooth operations, the tie-up will also create the proof of concepts to setup the joint-transforma­tion office, based on design thinking methodolog­y,” he said.

He further said that continuous innovation in the Microsoft technologi­es will enhance the safety and security solutions to the police.

“We are committed to provide our latest technologi­es, academic research, training and learning, for effective use of IT in policing,” Bal said.
