GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS

-

The global financial crisis resulting in worldwide recession caused the Sensex to fall by over 50% during 2008-2009. From around 21,000 levels seen in the beginning of 2008, the index crashed to near 8,000 till March 2009. Markets tumbled as foreign investors, who took a big hit back home, needed their money and subsequently pulled back their money from India. Sensex saw its biggest fall since 1992 on Oct 24, 2008
