A 24-year-old man was arrested Saturday for allegedly stalking a university student in Knowledge Park, Greater Noida. The suspect, Sayeed Hussain, is from Ganderbal in Jammu & Kashmir and lives with a friend in Old Delhi.

Varun Pawar, station house officer, Knowledge Park police station, said the victim had recently got admission in the MBA programme of a private university in Greater Noida. Police said the suspect allegedly lived in the victim’s neighbourhood in her hometown and when she shifted to Greater Noida, Hussain allegedly started calling her frequently and stalking her.

Pawar said the victim had refused his alleged advances but the suspect did not mend his ways. “The suspect came to Delhi last week and stayed at his friend’s place. In the morning he used to visit Greater Noida and roam around hoping to meet her. The victim filed a complaint on Friday and a case was registered against him under Section 354-D (stalking) of the IPC. On Saturday, he had come to meet the woman when the police team arrested him,” the SHO said. The suspect was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
