Noida begins resurfacing 25-km Expressway
UNLIKE EARLIER, THE AUTHORITY IS REMOVING A LAYER OF THE ROAD BEFORE MOVING TO RESURFACE IT TO ENSURE SAME THICKNESS
NOIDA: The Noida Authority on Friday said it began resurfacing the 25-km Noida-greater Noida expressway and will complete it by the end of June. The work is being done in phases to reduce inconvenience on commuters.
Unlike earlier, the authority is removing a layer of the road before resurfacing it. This will ensure that the height of the road remained the same.
“We had removed the upper layer, 50mm thick, over a 3-km stretch in January. We are now laying a 60 mm thick layer over it. Once that is done, we will move to the next stretch,” said SP Singh manager of the Noida authority. “Thirty percent of the material removed will be recycled into the project.”
The 25-km six-lane expressway connects Delhi with the 165-km Yamuna Expressway. The authority had floated a tender to hire a private agency to resurface the road in October 2019. However, the Covid-19 pandemic prevented further development.
According to traffic police, over 150,000 motorists use the expressway daily, and two to three fatal accidents occur monthly over it due to various reasons. The Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) had said that the road had to be resurfaced to ensure smooth traffic.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police on Saturday said their Economics Offences Wing had registered a case against two child care homes for financial irregularities, cheating, forgery and criminal breach of trust, following a complaint received from the National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR).
This is the second case against the two child care homes in a fortnight. The police identified the two homes as Umeed Aman Ghar, a home for boys, and Khushi Rainbow Home, a residence for girls -both in south Delhi and established by the Centre for Equity
Studies (CSE). The CSE is being run by trustee member Harsh Mander, a retired IAS officer.
An officer from the EOW confirmed that the second case was registered on Thursday.
“The NCPCR had filed a complaint against the two homes mentioning financial irregularities. After preliminary examination we registered a case. We would now be issuing notices to the concerned homes and members of their management to join the probe,” the officer said.
Mander could not be reached for a comment on the allegations despite repeated attempts.
