GREATER NOIDA: In view of the rising cases of Covid-19, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has formed a quick response team for sanitisation. According to officials, the teams -- one each for Greater Noida West and Greater Noida East -- will sanitise residential, industrial and other areas upon calls from residents.

The decision to form the teams came after many residents alleged that the authority’s health department teams were not properly sanitising areas where Covid cases were reported, officials said, adding that some of these complaints were received via Whatsapp and social media platforms.

“The sanitation issues are not being attended properly, even as Covid-19 wreaks havoc. The authority must improve its response to demands of citizens,” said Om Raizada, a social activist and resident of Sector P 3.

Officials said the authority’s CEO Narendra Bhooshan held a meeting with the health department staff a couple of days ago and expressed “dissatisfaction” over sanitisation in Covid-affected areas.

“If health department officials fail to take calls or address grievances while a pandemic rages on, when sanitation issues are all the more important, then disciplinary action will be initiated,” said Deep Chand additional CEO, GNIDA.

The two teams will have at least 200 staff members each to respond to complaints. The authority has also released a telephone number: 01202336046, 47, 48 and 49, for residents to lodge complaints. GNIDA also released a Whatsapp number – 8800203912.

If health dept officials fail to take calls or address grievances while a pandemic rages on, when sanitation issues are all the more important, we will take action. DEEP CHAND ,

Addl CEO, GNIDA
