Gautam Budh Nagar on Friday ordered industrial development authorities and local bodies under it to set up oxygen refill and distribution centre in their areas immediately.

The order was issued to the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, Yamuna Industrial Development Authority, and the Dadri and Jewar municipalities. This comes days after the Ghaziabad administration decided to set up oxygen cylinders in five centres with a maximum turnaround time (collecting cylinder, refilling it and returning) of 48 hours.

“The authorities have been ordered to ensure that the empty cylinders are refilled and returned to the people within 24 to 48 hours,” said District Magistrate Suhas LY. This would require residents to keep a backup cylinder in case they opt for it.

It directed them to provide the public with information on where to find these centres with a Google Maps location and phone number.

Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has designated one spot each in Greater Noida West and Greater Noida East for the purpose. Each location will have four counters and will be operational from Saturday.

In Greater Noida East, the centre will be at Samrat Mihir Bhoj Park (also known as City Park), Greater Noida.

In Greater Noida West, Gautam Budh Balak Inter College, Knowledge Park 5, Greater Noida will be the centre.

As per the order, people will have to present a photocopy of their Aadhaar, doctor’s prescription for oxygen, oxygen saturation level report and the Covid-19 test report.

In case a patient showed Covid symptoms but a negative RT-PCR report, DM Suhas LY said, “In such cases, a doctor’s prescription or a chest CT report should suffice.”

A D-type cylinder (47 litres) will be refilled at ₹500 while a B-type (10 litres) cylinder will be refilled for ₹200.

The G B Nagar order stated that the INOX Air Products located in Surajpur, Greater Noida will ensure that liquid medical oxygen is supplied to Maruti Carbonics in Greater Noida where the cylinder will be refilled. This will be monitored by the drug inspector and additional district magistrate.

Ghaziabad’s system, operational since May 5, collects 150200 cylinders per day, officials said. Its nodal officer for Covid preparedness Senthil C Pandian said,“as per a CSR partnership, industrial companies will set up three oxygen plants in MMG District Hospital Hospital and four more at four Community Health Centres in the district,” he said.
