Two new paediatric hospitals, with 100 beds each, will be developed near the Noida international airport site in view of a possible third wave of Covid-19 infections that may affect children, said the officials of Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (Yeida).

One hospital is planned for Sector 18 and the other in Sector 20. These will supplement the efforts of the only other paediatric hospital in Gautam Budh Nagar - Child PGI at Sector 30.

Yeida officials said they have started the work on finalising the terms under which land for the two hospitals will be allotted to eligible private companies. The land rate is likely to be around ₹10,000 per square for both.

“We are likely to issue request for proposal inviting applications from interested companies by next week. We will provide all infrastructure support to companies that will invest and develop the hospitals,” said Arun Vir Singh the chief executive officer of the Yeida.

“We have fixed June 15 as deadline to allot the land and we will give them 10 months to make the hospital operational.”

Health centre turned into Covid hospital

Unused for the past 11 years, the community health centre (CHC) in Jewar has been converted into a 85-bed Covid-19 hospital.

Inaugurated Thursday, the CHC now has four doctors, besides and 60 oxygen concentrators, officials said. “The police donated a diesel generator set, and the DM provided an ambulance. The Yamuna Expressway authority developed the infrastructure, including beds and sanitation. We also received concentrators under corporate social responsibility. Many villagers donated fans,” said Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh who allocated ₹50 lakh from his MLA funds to the project.

“The CHC at Jewar was not established as there was no need for it, as there was already a PHC. However, we are now working to convert other CHCS at Dari, Bisrakh, Bhangel, Dhadha and Badalpur as 30-bed Covid-19 facilities,” said Dr Deepak Ohri, CMO.

DM Suhas LY said the other CHCS will also be made oxygen centres. “We will soon have pressure swing adsorption or oxygen plants at the CHCS that will cater demands of the city’s other hospital as well,” said Suhas.
